Youth Development and Recreation Specialist Position
The Cabbage Patch Settlement House, Inc., a Christian Organization serving inner city at risk youth (ages 8 to 18), seeks a Recreation and Youth Development Specialist. Our daily attendance for after school and summer programs ranges from 85-110 youth.
Must be able to plan and teach in our Visual Arts program; plan and teach in one or more of the following areas: Music, Drama and/or Dance (teaching guitar would be a plus). Must have strong, demonstrated skills in outdoor activities, plan and lead overnight, tent camping groups which may include canoeing, biking, back-packing and travel camping. Should also be able to teach/coach one or more of the following sports: basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf. Must be capable and comfortable in teaching spiritual development activities. Hours: M-F, 1-9 pm occasional week end and overnight required.
College degree in related field– Recreation /Leisure Studies; Physical Education; be able to lift and carry 50 pounds; excellent computer skills; Previous work experience in similar position, as well as Life Guarding and American Red Cross First Aid Certifications preferred.
