Your support of The Cabbage Patch creates a supportive environment where children can form lasting friendships. When a young person is part of a positive, ambitious group, it makes it easier for them to step outside of their comfort zone and discover a new talent or interest. The group dynamic helps each child identify their unique strengths and therefore encourages independence and motivation.
One such group at The Cabbage Patch is Wilderness Women. The group of girls explores nature so that participants can learn outdoor survival skills and teamwork and better understand the Earth’s delicate balance. It’s amazing what learning to build a campfire can do for a young girl’s sense of confidence and self-reliance.
The Wilderness Women recently explored Otter Creek Park, a beautiful recreation area that includes 24 miles of trails! Activities included cooking on a camp stove, bird watching and, of course, discovering Kentucky’s rich landscape. We are so blessed to live in an area with so many opportunities for exploring nature. This fall, make sure to visit one of our area forests like Otter Creek…take it from the Wilderness Women, you will be glad you did!
