The Cabbage Patch family honors the life of Theodore “Ted” Merhoff, who went to his eternal reward on February 5, 2015. Ted was a dedicated member emeritus and Past President of the Cabbage Patch Board of Directors. He was also instrumental in the financial support of The Patch, first during his career as Senior Vice President and Director of Charitable and Endowment Services for PNC Bank (Formerly Citizens Fidelity), and after his retirement, when he served as Executive Director of the V.V. Cooke Foundation.
Ted is remembered by the children of The Patch for his volunteer work with the High Adventure program. As part of the Recreation/Youth Development program, High Adventure activities foster confidence and teamwork through outdoor exploration. Ted accompanied two groups of inner city children, many of whom were experiencing the natural landscape for the first time, on 100-mile bike trips in Missouri and Virginia. Serving as a mentor during the emotional and physical challenges of these adventures, Ted led by example and helped the children maximize these profound learning experiences.
We are thankful for the time we had with such a good and faithful servant, and we hold Ted’s family in our prayers. To read Ted’s full obituary, click HERE.
