As the COVID-19 pandemic continues into the holiday season, life seems more hectic and overwhelming, especially for young people. We never expected Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) to last so long! Children like Janae are working hard to cope with this new reality.
Janae recently came into Ms. Mayghin’s office in tears, overwhelmed with the amount of work to do and devastated that she had forgotten her mother’s birthday. “She does so many nice things for me, and I try to make her feel special every year!” Janae said. “There was so much work I forgot to get her anything!” Ms. Mayghin assured Janae that it is never too late to make someone feel special, and they got some supplies from the art room to make a nice card. They also created a gift bag with some lovely bath items that a Cabbage Patch supporter had donated.
Afterward, they sat down with a pad marked “To-Do” and laid out all of Janae’s homework for the week. When it was all planned out on paper, it seemed a little more manageable.
