When Jerry Coslow Pence passed away on September 18, 2020, her children, Sallye and Chuck, made The Cabbage Patch one of her memorial beneficiaries. Her generous friends gave enough to provide four days of NTI (Non-traditional instruction) possible at The Patch Academy program.
Jerry was raised in a home of educators, and before she had children of her own she was an elementary school teacher. She spent her life investing in the lives of children through her volunteer work at church and supporting her daughter Sallye’s career as a Family Resource Center Coordinator with the school system while running a success family business. Jerry and Sallye saw firsthand the impact poverty had on learning. Especially in a time of a worldwide pandemic, the learning gap is increasing and at-risk children are falling even more behind.
How fitting and wonderful to honor the life of Jerry Coslow Pence then by making four days of NTI possible for children with lots of promise, but have many obstacles. Sallye said “My Mother would have been deeply touched by the wonderful generosity of her beloved family and friends who made donations in her memory. It’s especially heartwarming that all the gifts together have made so many days of NTI possible at The Patch. Education changes lives and every child deserves the chance to achieve their greatest potential.”
When you consider planning where your memorial gifts may one day go, consider making The Cabbage Patch the beneficiary….it will be life changing!
